I've been trying to get my parents to learn software the same way! After about 8 years, I think it's finally taking hold. The biggest psychological hurdle for older people is convincing them that they're not actually going to "break" anything if they accidentally hit the wrong button. Almost everything has a back button and/or undo.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's grandmother. I'm glad you still got to see the films, though.

I was so used to no one responding to my posts that I didn't even check to see if someone had commented.

It turned out to be an even crazier week. My wife's grandmother died Monday morning, and we had to fly to Detroit for the funeral. I didn't get to present on blogging at the conference, but we did return in time to see several excelent films.

The Drive-By Truckers? Really? Jolleen, I'm so impressed.

Thought I'd check out your blog. Sounds like a very busy week! Have fun at the film festival. I've always thought that sounded like fun, but we've never made it there yet. We were in Columbia Tuesday night to see Drive-By Truckers at the Blue Note. One of my husband's favorite bands. It was fun.

Very true. In most schools the whiteboards were installed over a holiday and the first thing the staff new about them was when they came back and were immediately expected to use them. Schools are willing to spend a lot on the actual technology, but are less inclined to then spend money on training and releasing staff from the timetable to develop resources.

What you therefore get is a screen that is used to project onto. I observed a lesson recently where the teacher had prepared a smart notebook file for her lesson, but at no point actually touched the board. Everything was driven by using the laptop mouse.

With projects like yours, and effective training in-school, teachers can begin to see the benefits of this new technology. Once we are using the tool effectively we should begin to see the benefits.

Thanks for the mention. I've been mainly using the site as a depository for help and advice that I can direct my trainees to, but others have been joining in and sharing too.

I hope you find some of it useful.
